85 Toyota Build

This is a thread showing the progress of my 1985 Toyota that i've been building since I believe late 07 or early 08. It's a bare bones truck that was in my family and when a family member filed bankrupt they gave me the truck so the bank wouldn't take it, sold it to me for a dollar basically haha.

It went to Innovative Customs in Meridian, MS to be front-bagged by Jamey and Don, drove it front bagged for a while and wanted to Z the frame. Got 3/4 through that when the frame twisted beyond repair.

I then punched a wall...hard, followed by every "bad" word I could think of.

Once this happened I was contacted by a guy in middle TN about stock-flooring the truck to get his name out and for that he would cut me a deal, should have known better. The deal was made to lay rocker, mount seats, and have the truck drivable when I got it back. He came and got the truck in I believe August, with a frame design in 3d soon after we found a parts truck. He basically didn't start on it until December, and I never got it back til June because of this. Good ol' FeO2 Fab, least thats what he went by when building my truck.

I felt like I wouldn't get the truck back, so I made him bring it down and finish what was left in my garage as he had dodged about 5 deadlines already. We had to fully plumb the brakes, airline, valves, he built the trans tunnel (that blocks the pass seat from sliding and doesn't let you hardly mount seatbelts) in my spare garage. Truck doesnt truely lay rocker, pinch wasn't cut off fully, or folded. Truck was built with ZERO body mount bushings. I ended up slicing the end off a few 4 link ends just so it wasn't metal on metal. Truck is about an 1/8 inch from laying whats left of the pinch. It needs to be traditionaled like a 1/4-1/2 an inch on these body mount bushings or about a 3/4 inch on something with a bit more cushioning to them.

I was happy that I finally had my truck back.

I worked on it when I could and finally took it to scrapin 2010 bagged and bodied, and a show in Meridian that the guy who was to build my bed floor (and did) put together, but it over heated by then and ripped my wheel weights off because I put the stock spindles back on as it was bagged for them, but I had drops on (guy who built the frame, again, didn't plan for this though he had the drop spindles in possession). So the truck was towed to the guys shop at his house and the floor was built. It needs a lot of work, and needs the front wall replaced and a good bit of body work.

Anyways...thats the story, and these are the pictures.

i have a 96 tacoma and its going to be layed out pretty soon but yours looks like you have alot of work done to it, looks good.

Thanks guys. I'm hoping to get it in primer once Corey's is laid out. I may drive it down and just pass out on the couch at Foulon's place for the night so we can spray it in a shop, I don't exactly have the best equipment.

As far as I know I am just around helping when I can lol. I'm not huge on clubs, but its whatever really. That stuff is what I could think of at the time.

I need a full interior build, new upper arms, body work and what not, alternator swap, relocate my battery and more that i'm not thinking of i'm sure. It's been a painfully slow build lol.

i respectfully left grant alone with the "club" thing because i assumed he would do the orlando club scene. but we are all mini/custom truckers here so its all good.

Yah, I'm not exactly sure where i'm at as far as moving/staying here at the moment. I can't find a halfway decent job anywhere. Don't want to run a logo that i'm not fully committed to.

just put in the order for my control arms yesteray afternoon. got the hook up so nicely! a buddy in AZ is building them and sending em out to me hopefully beginning of next week..not this monday but next. whatever week that is haha. once i have them on and get the truck aligned fairly well i will be coming to the yune to prime the front half of the truck and hopefully reshaving my doors.

lol no, no showfest for me though i appreciate all the invites. i just dont have the cash to make that trip. i'm hoping i can do siknik, and scrapin or pandemonium and scrapin, or all three if its possible. im only counting on scrapin though.

what the fuck are you talking about? regardless of if it's built in the garage or built by a shop its still built one way or another. i've busted ass to get the truck to the point its at and it be quality work. i fuckig hate the people that praise the built not bought mentality, it's worthless. every person in this sport/scene whatever has put work, time, and loads of cash into their rides and for someone to make a ignorant comment like you just did is mind blowing. show some fuckin respect to others in this hobby. i realize i can't do the work that i want so i pinch pennies and do whats needed so that i can have someone do it for me.

i sure as hell hope your not speaking for the rest of your club.

NOT even going to get started on this.......Y'all BOTH need to chill......

I have nothing against anyone on this forum but if you come into my build thread and stack the way I go about building my truck for no reason other than an egotrip, I'm not going to hold my tongue. I'm tired if people talking shit just because they don't like the way things are done. I have never ben negative towards anything on this site, so I don't expect to have that BS in my BUILD thread unless something seems unsafe or someone wants to do the work on the truck themselves.
